Banff National Park

Now we are off to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. On the way we stopped at Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta to have breakfast at the spectacular Prince of Wales Hotel.

We continue via a very scenic drive through Kootenay National Park on the Kootenay Parkway through Radium Hot Springs. In the town of Banff, we stayed at Banff Park Lodge for it's convenient location downtown.

To continue our driving tour of the area, we headed up the Icefields Parkway toward Jasper National Park. The road climbs steadily and the views become more dramatic, with glacier views around every bend.

We stopped to admire the blue waters of Lake Louise, perhaps the "most photographed lake in the country." However, we found an even prettier spot at the nearby Moraine Lake.

Our journey on the Parkway ended at the Icefield Information Center to explore the Columbia Icefield, the largest ice cap south of the Arctic Circle. We returned to Banff for a bit of shopping and dining in their postcard, yet resorty, downtown area
