Kahekili Highway: Much of this 20-mile highway around the northwest coast of Maui is one lane with two-way traffic! Sometimes, you will need to back up to allow oncoming traffic. This is Kahakuloa Head.
Many overlooks along the way!
Great banana bread at Curley's Fruit Stand! Nearby, see a roadside waterfall.
The drive on Kahekili Highway is a real adventure! Go slow and watch for oncoming traffic on the narrow parts.
Waihee Ridge Trail is a must! Start before 8 AM for best views (clouds always move in by late morning). It's 4.5 miles roundtrip, climbing about 1,500 feet in elevation. Sweeping views of the coastline and mountains, while walking through a rich forest with lots of singing birds.
