We braved 15 degree temperatures to walk around Montreal. There is a huge underground city (20 miles to walk it all) with 1,500+ stores, but it looks like a sprawling mall. So we spent most of the time outdoors. This is the view from Mount Royal.

Notre-Dame Basilica

The amazing, colorful interior of the Notre-Dame Basilica, built in the 1820s.

Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal,
Canada's largest church

While much of downtown Montreal looks like a typical big city with a lot of glass and steel, old Montreal has lots of character.

The Olympic stadium with the leaning tower that pulls up retractable roof (although they don't pull up the roof anymore because of many technical problems.)
